Expression of Gratitude
One of the greatest pleasures of serving on a council is the wonderful people you have the opportunity to meet and get to know as you work alongside them. Of course, those first "hellos" seem not so long ago as you prepare to say "until next time." As of June 30, 2024, Council will see three members stepping down.
Dr. Susanne Morris will be concluding her first term with Council to transition to an exciting new adventure! We are thankful for her two years of Council service (July 1, 2022- June 30, 2024) and, over the past year, her service on the Finance & Audit Committee. Her voice and contribution will be missed around the table. We wish her all the best!
Dr. Brad Kane, our long serving past chair was gracious enough to extend his presence in an ex-officio role last year, helping Council as they transitioned to a new Chair and a new CEO. We are grateful for his wisdom and experience around the table - and we wish him well as he transitions from a regulatory role to an advocacy role with the Canadian Chiropractic Association. Thank you, Dr. Kane, for your tireless service to Alberta Chiropractors.
Lastly, we are also saying "till next time" to Dr. Kirsten Baxter. She was elected to Council in 2017 and was Vice President from 2019-2022, including during the transition from the association and college to the college (CCOA). She served as Vice-Chair (2022-2024) and as Chair of the Nominating Committee (2022-2023) and the Governance Committee (2023-2024). Dr. Baxter has been a strong representative around the table for two terms, and has also been vital to Council's transitioning of the Chair and the CEO as well as the move to the Council appointment process. Her unassuming disposition, wisdom, foresight and perceptiveness was always appreciated. She will be deeply missed.
As the incoming Council, we look forward to working together to fulfill the College of Chiropractors of Alberta's mission to serve and protect patients through regulation to ensure safe, competent and ethical chiropractic care.
Regards,
Dr. Jason Hollingsworth, Chair
